Both countries have won the gold medal twice before -- Sweden in 1981 and 2012, Finland in 1987 and 1998. Sweden is in the gold-medal game for the third straight year, while this is Finland's first time in the big game since 2000.
Sweden enters the game with a perfect 6-0 record, winning all four games in the group stage, then wins over Slovakia (6-0) and Russia (2-1) to get to the final. Finland was 2nd place in Group B with a 2-2 record, then beat the Czech Republic (5-3) and Canada (5-1) to get here. The two teams met during the group stage, with Sweden winning 4-2.
The captains of the two teams -- Filip Forsberg and Teuvo Teravainen -- are also the co-scoring leaders with 12 points each. One of them will almost certainly be named the top forward of the tournament and both will almost certainly be on the all-star team. As well, one of the two starting goaltenders will almost certainly be named the top one of the tournament -- Oskar Dansk and Juuse Saros.
